Daniel “Dan” Lee Simmons, born October 1, 1979, went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2025. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dianna Lee Simmons, his grandparents John Mac and Jean Simmons, uncle Harry Simmons, uncle David and aunt Kathy Willis, aunt Tammy Simmons, and a very special aunt Brenda Kay Simmons. He is survived by his uncle Tom Simmons, aunt Belinda Simmons, and a host of special cousins that loved him dearly; John Richard Simmons (Becky), Sara Lovejoy (Chad), Mac Simmons (Anna), Matthew Willis, Michael Willis (Angel), Kay Mack (Nathan), along with 17 second cousins who thought of him as their uncle; Miley Simmons, Kaitlin Christman (Zach, Evie), Ben Simmons (Hailey), Macenzie Simmons, Clay Simmons, Luke Lovejoy, Ethan Lovejoy, Dylan Lovejoy, Gabe Willis, Adam Willis, Kaylee Mack, Elijah Willis, Guy Mack, Joey Willis, Lily Mack, Charlie Willis, and Allison Willis. He was a Huntington High School graduate, and he played football, baseball, and basketball in his youth. He also attended Church in the Valley with his Granny Jean and all of his cousins. Daniel spent many years as a Store Manager at Urbana Market with his beloved Uncle Harry. Those who knew Daniel knew that his cousin, Mac, was his brother from the beginning and to the very end. Some of his most cherished childhood and even adulthood moments were with his family: Dianna, Tom, Tammy, Mac, Sara and Brenda. He had a deep love for hunting and fishing especially those excursions spent with his cousin/brother John Richard along with other cousins/brother, Matthew and Mikey. More than anything, he loved spending time with family members reminiscing about cherished memories he shared with them. He was a son, nephew, cousin/brother, uncle, and a friend to many. He is gone way too soon, but he will forever be in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held at noon on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary and Cremation Services 6357 E. Pea Ridge Rd. Huntington, WV near Barboursville with Pastor Troy Nicely officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services on Thursday at the Mortuary.
