Mary Jane Whitfield, 53 of Huntington, WV went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 27, 2023 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. She was born January 17, 1970 in Williamson, WV the daughter of the late James O. Whitfield and Alice Martin Scott of Huntington, WV. She was employed by the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services, attended Christ Temple Church, Huntington, WV, a graduate of Marshall University with her BA Degree in Criminal Justice and was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers and Marshall University fan. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Washington and one brother, James Whitfield and two nephews, Shawntique "Scooter" Whitfield, and Jerome "Duke" Whitfield; and one granddaughter, La'Faith Walker. She is survived by her fiancé, James Carlos Herring; two daughters, Briana Shayne Westmorland of Huntington, WV and Brittani Nicole Whitfield of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Kohnee Harmon of Hope Mills, NC, Tammy Whitfield of Huntington, WV, Tonya Whitfield of Huntington, WV, Parzella Harris of Huntington, WV; brothers, Julius Whitfield of Atlanta, GA and Jerome (Loretta) Whitfield of Wayne, WV; six grandchildren, Antonio Braithwaite, Ariana Moore, Na'cer Whitfield, Trinity Whitfield, Emoni Whitfield, and Kendall Williams; special friends, Michelle Logwood, Lisa Moten, Tonya Kelly, Donna Sarvas, and Little Smith; and three friends that were like sisters to her were, Alice Layne, Crystal Phillips, and Meshelle Murphy. Others left to mourn her death are all of her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many beloved friends and family too numerous to list. Homegoing services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Encouragers Outreach Church, Huntington, WV with Pastors, Phyllis Martin and Jerome Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM service time on Thursday at the church.
