THOMAS JAY MCCOY, 93, of Lesage, WV, departed this life in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV, and went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. He was born June 25, 1932, in Mason County, WV, a son of the late Earl McCoy and Marie Tabit McCoy. He was a member of Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee for over 20 years. He worked in the Carpenter shop at Special Metals for many years before retiring as Leadman in that Department. He was a loving son, husband and father. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Rose McCoy; sisters and brothers, Elizabeth (George) Fowler, William (Anne) McCoy, Jeanne (Leonard) Miller, James (Dorothy) McCoy, Patricia (Sheldon) Hill, and Janet (Roger) Wilson. He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Trina and Robert Brandt of Wasilla Alaska, Tammy and Ronald King of Barboursville, WV; one son, Jason McCoy of LeSage, WV; grandchildren, Jared (Alexandria) King of Spring Hill, TN and Rachel (Mitchell) Hall of Huntington, WV. He is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Joyce (Larry) Eshenaur of Point Pleasant, WV, one brother, John McCoy of Gallipolis Ferry, WV; and many nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his never ending smile and kindness. He never said no to helping those in need and could always be found helping in his church, helping a neighbor, a family member,a friend or just someone sitting on the side of the road. He will be greatly missed but we’re rejoicing for his life just beginning in the presence of his Lord. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary and Cremation Services, 1592 E. Pea Ridge Rd., Huntington, WV, near Barboursville, with Pastor Gordon Rutherford officiating. Pallbearers will be, Jason McCoy, Ronald King, Robert Brandt, Jared King, Mitchell Hall and Arthur Dean. Burial will follow in Greenbottom Cemetery.
