Samuel Joseph "Sam" Vance 66 of Barboursville, WV, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 in Cornerstone Hospital. He was born October 14, 1957 in Huntington, WV the son of the late, Rev. Tony and Rinda Caserta Vance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Toni Jean Vance and one brother, Tony Michael Vance and nephew, Jason Michael Vance. He was a retired pastor and ministry and music was a huge part of his life. He was a member of Christ Temple Church where he sang in the choir and was instrumental in the children’s ministry. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Jeannie Clagg Vance of Barboursville, WV; one son, Samuel (Sheri) Vance of Barboursville, WV; one daughter, Summer (Brian) Waugh of Charleston, WV; one sister, Anita Vance of Barboursville, WV; one brother, Charles Vance of Barboursville, WV; two sister-in-law’s, Lynda Vance and Pat Armstrong both of Barboursville, WV; step-mother, Bonnie Vance; six-grandchildren, Isabella and Brady Booth, Gabriella Vance, Mikey Waugh, Samuel (Brooke) Vance, Luke and Ruger Waugh and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Friends may call from 4-6PM on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Christ Temple Church 2400 Johnstown Rd. Huntington. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 PM with Pastor Chuck Lawrence officiating. From the age of 16, Sam embarked on a remarkable journey of faith and service, leaving an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to cross his path. Sam’s passion for ministry was evident in every facet of his life. As a teenager he was tasked with teaching his first Sunday School Class in his Father’s church and moved into music ministry as a musician, singer, and later a worship leader. Later, his commitment to nurturing young hearts led him to establish a children's ministry, laying the foundation for countless children to grow in faith. This ministry blossomed to helping other churches follow suit by putting an emphasis on children and focusing on their spiritual development. Ministry led him into helping his brother with radio ministry and later television ministry that went across the region 3 times per day. To this day, many speak of the impact it had on their reconciliation with God, and even their call to serving in ministry themselves. As the need grew, he became a family pastor, serving along side his brother and father in helping marriages, families, and teaching parenting skills. Soon, he was fully immersed into full-time ministry with the mission of preaching, spreading the word of God to all corners of the community.His dedication to the spiritual path never wavered, and later, Sam became a senior Pastor helping others to find their purpose in Christ. His mission to deliver messages of hope and faith to those who could not be present in the pews. His visits to hospitals, the countless marriages he conducted, and the somber duty of serving as a minister for funerals bore witness to his unwavering commitment to the spiritual well-being of everyone he knew. Mentoring was another facet of Sam’s ministry, as he tirelessly invested in the spiritual growth of others. He was a beacon of guidance and support, nurturing the spiritual lives of many, and his legacy of mentorship will continue to shine brightly. Sam had a special connection to the law enforcement community and walked through many dark places with those that have given their life to service. His gift of songwriting, and music became a beacon of his life, as he led thousands into the presence of the Lord on a consistent basis. Music became a source of inspiration and solace for those who sought peace in the spiritual realm. Over the course of his life he developed the gifting and calling of so many in the ministry of music, in singing, songwriting, and musical talents. He always taught that God was to get the glory for our musical gifts, that it was a gift to the Lord. Today there are countless musicians, singers, and worship leaders ministering in churches all over that were cultivated through Sam’s guidance. Sam’s love for families was an overshadowing principle of his life, as he advocated for the sanctity of marriage and the nurturing of harmonious homes. He fought tirelessly for the bonds of marriage and family, leaving behind a legacy of blessing for marriage, children, parenting, and harmony in the home. Outside the realm of ministry, Samuel was also a skilled professional in the field of sales, specializing in hydraulic and pneumatics. His engineering expertise served as a testament to his versatility and dedication in all aspects of life. Samuel Joseph Vance, a true servant of God and a compassionate mentor to many, has left an indelible imprint on the hearts and souls of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to faith, dedication, and love, and his memory will continue to inspire and guide all who walk in his footsteps. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man of God, we take solace in knowing that his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched and the faith he instilled. Samuel's journey may have ended, but the legacy of his love, service, and devotion will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
