Roy Edward Wilson, 72 of Ashland, KY, passed away, Saturday, April 15, 2023. He was born December 20, 1950 the son of the late, Everett and Elva Blankenship Wilson. Roy worked at PhotoMan for a few years, where he studied and operated photography equipment. He then started his career at Kings Daughter’s Medical Center at the housekeeping department. During those 36-years he made several long-lasting friendships, many of which he considered family. Roy loved spending time with friends and family. He wanted to make everyone laugh by either making silly faces or telling jokes. He was also outspoken about his relationship with God and would share the gospel with others around him. Roy served in the United States Army immediately after high school from 1969 to 1972, where he was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 5 (E-5). During this time he trained at Fort Bliss Texas with the 52nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment where he studied the HAWK Missile and Launcher platform. He earned the Expert Rifle Medal and the Sharpshooter Rifle Medal for the M-16 and M-14, respectively. As well as, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Roy’s last major duty assignment was in Germany under the United States Army and Europe Command (USAREUR). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tiffany Marie Ann Wilson; two sisters, Mabel Conley and Malvie Gipson; brothers, Danny Wilson, David Wilson, Sam Wilson and Charles Wilson. He is survived by his children, Tina Renee Clark (David) and Kayla Renee Wilson all of Ashland, KY; one sister, Monagail Shaffer (James) of Winston Salem, NC,; brothers, Everett Wilson, Jr. Loretta) of Ashland, KY and Michael Wilson of Winston Salem, NC; two grandchildren, Maleesa Clark and Keeston Clark and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2023 at New Life Church, Huntington, WV with Pastor Josh Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Burial Park, Ashland, KY. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM service time on Friday at the church.
