Richard Allen Leffingwell, Sr. was born September 10, 1940 in Huntington, WV; he was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Leffingwell. Richard was a highly respected painting and wallpaper contractor in Huntington, WV, with over sixty years of service to the community. He had the privilege to work on many local historical buildings such as, The West Virginia Building, The Frederick Building, and Huntington City Hall. He also worked on many of the south side of Huntington residences. Richard was baptized at 5th Avenue Baptist Church of Guyandotte by Pastor Ray Vance on October 21, 2021. He also loved to attend Christ Temple Church to listen to Pastor Chuck Lawrence. On Saturday, July 13, 2024, Richard passed at home from natural causes, surrounded with the loving hands of daughters, Linda and Vickie; as well as granddaughters, Tara and Laura, with several of his grandchildren present. Richard was never alone since his wife passed. Linda and Tara has devoted the past three years of their life daily taking care of him throughout the most difficult of times. A very special thank you to Vernon Ruley for all he has done for dad. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty years, Thelma Rose "Punkin" Browning Leffingwell; an infant child; four brothers, Larry Leffingwell, Bill Leffingwell, Robert Leffingwell, Paul Leffingwell; and two sisters, Lee Lee Scarberry and Betty Lynard. He is survived by his children, Linda Carol Leffingwell, (Don Cummings) of Huntington, WV, Richard "Dickie" Leffingwell, Jr. (Pam) of Chesapeake, OH, Robert Lee "Bob" Leffingwell (Rhonda) of Florida, and Vickie Joyce Blankenship (Russell) of Chesapeake, OH; brother, Darrell Leffingwell; sisters, Faye Leslie, Wanda Edwards, Janice Krismer; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. Graveside services will be conducted at Woodmere Memorial Park 2701 Washington Blvd, Huntington, WV 25705 at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 20, 2024 with Pastor Zane Foster officiating.
