Richard L. Farley, 86, of Barboursville WV, went home to be with the Lord on July 5, 2024. He was born in Lesage, WV on April 13, 1938,the son of the late Okey and Iris Farley. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Edith M. J. Farley. Richard was a veteran of U.S. Navy. He retired from West Virginia Steel and continue work with A1 Security until 2017. He enjoyed boxing and was a two time WV State Golden Gloves champion. Richard was a true man of God. He preached for several years, and even when it wasn’t in an official capacity, he loved to talk to others about Jesus. He enjoyed fellowship with countless people over the years. Regardless of where he was, he loved meeting new people and sharing the Gospel with them. Richard was a fan of Marshall football and basketball. He also enjoyed hunting with his sons and traveling. Most of all, Richard Farley had a kind heart full of love for Jesus and love for his family. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Joseph Farley, Clyde Farley, Max Farley and his sisters: Freda Curry, Janice Moore, and Cloah Farley. He was the father of the late Ronald David Farley of Lesage, WV and Richard Jeff Farley of Topeka, KS. Richard is survived by his son Roger Owen Farley of Barboursville,WV, and his daughters-in-law Bonnie Farley of Topeka, KS and Lora Farley, of Barboursville, WV. He had a daughter, Eugenia Jones of Branchland, WV, and three stepchildren: Gary Jones (deceased) of Stevensville, MT, Conda and Dewey Holesapple of Charlotte, NC and a stepson Bud and Sue Jones of Barboursville, WV. He was blessed with nine grandchildren: Natalie and Craig Katherns of Belton, MO, Cassandra and Chad Dixson of Topeka, KS, Terrin and Chad Beckett of Barboursville, WV, Dylan Farley of Barboursville, WV, Jenna and Shane Wilson of Dingess, WV, Jamie and Shelia Burcham of Ona, WV, Tana and William Gerrity of Olin, NC , Melissa and Corey Addis of Charlotte, NC, and Adam Jones of Branchland, WV. Richard had a particularly special love for his ten great grandchildren: Parker Dixson of Topeka, KS, David Farley of Barboursville,WV and Kyle Farley of Barboursville,WV, Lindley Beckett of Barboursville, WV, Brittany Burcham and Chris Cobb of Huntington,WV, Shannon Abbot (deceased) of Charlotte, NC, Brittany Abbot & Brandon Terry of Ona, WV, Trent Abbot of Charlotte, NC, Bailey Gerrity of Olin, NC, Abagail Addis of Charlotte, NC and his four great-great grandchildren: Braelynn Adkins & Lila Terry of Ona, WV, and Blaze Smith and Harlow Cobb of Huntington, WV. He was loved by many other family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary & Cremation Services, 6357 E. Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, WV 25705 on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Morrison Cemetery in Barboursville, WV. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Thursday, at the mortuary.
