Mary Frances Templeton, 85, of Huntington, died Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at home. To most friends and family, Mary was known as “Sis”or “Sissy”. She was born May 10, 1939, in Huntington to the late Oscar and Stella Rayburn Childers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, David Lee Blower, brother, L. E. “Gene” Childers, sister-in-law, Joann Childers, and their four sons; Bob, Jim, Steve, and Tony Childers, as well as her father and mother-in-law, Stensett and Pauline Templeton, sister-in-law, Mary A. Templeton, and brother-in-law, David Templeton. Sis is survived by her husband, James A. Templeton, of Huntington, three daughters, Terri Cornwell (Mark), of Portsmouth, OH, Pamela Maynard, of Huntington, and Sherri Barnett, of Proctorville, OH, brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Templeton, of Savannah, GA, sister-in-law, Anita Templeton, of Sweetland, WV, six grandchildren; Jaime Hammer, Matthew Hammer(Tiﬀani), Shawn Blower (Erin), Tyler Maynard, Caitlin Hanlin (Wayne), a granddaughter-in-law, Jamie Blower, as well as 10great-grandchildren; Ethan (Madison), Caleigh, Laken, Tamara, Brooklynn, Jackson, Simon, Sophia, Trey, Scarlett, and three great-great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Stevie, and Violet. Jim and Sis were married in 1956, she was a homemaker from then until 1973 when she began working at Sears Roebuck and Co. and worked at Kmart until her retirement in 1994. She has been a member of Olive Baptist Church since 1946. She loved her vacations to Myrtle Beach, S.C. so much, they had a second home there they enjoyed for 10 years. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary and Cremation Services, Huntington, WV near Barbourville. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the funeral home with Pastor Gordon Rutherford oﬃciating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville. In lieu of ﬂowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Mary to Olive Baptist Church and the Gideon’s International.
