DAVID MURRELL SULLIVAN, “Mr. Chevelle,” crossed his last finish line on March 22, 2025 at the age of 71. He was a beloved father, husband, brother and friend. David was born to Murrell and Thelma Sullivan on Sept 26, 1953 in Huntington, WV. He graduated from Barboursville High School in 1971. He then went on to work at Moses Auto, followed by eight years at Special Metals, and then a short stint at Hamilton Chevrolet before starting his thirty-five year career as an ASE certified Master Technician at Auto Tech. His passion was automotives, and he shaped his entire life around the cars he loved. His most recent achievement was his induction into the WV Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2023. David was also passionate about the people in his life. He always had a kind word or a funny story to share. His kindness, love and joy shone through in everything that he did. He was always happy to lend a helping-hand. The people that he was most passionate about were his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Anna, of Forty-six years. Together they had two children, Russell and Kathleen Sullivan. To whom he was the most unconditionally loving father. He taught them how to fish, to drive fast and to always buy a Chevy. Also surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Mike Cihota; his aunt, Joan Flickenger; one sister-in-law, Abbie (Tom) Carr; two brother-in-laws, Larry and Danny Absten; along with nine cousins, five nieces, three nephews, one great-niece and five great-nephews. A visitation for David will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 6-9 PM at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary and Cremation Services 6357 E. Pea Ridge Rd. Huntington, WV near Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 27, 2025 with a visitation beginning at 12:00 PM with the funeral beginning at 1:00 PM. Entombment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dale and Debbie Napier for their unwavering support. Special thanks to the Skilled Nursing Unit staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center for their compassionate care.
