David Lee Armstrong 89 of Chesapeake, OH went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 7, 2024. He was born April 26, 1934 in Huntington, WV the son of the late Manford Jackson and Virgie Jean Burgess Armstrong. He was a retired 35 year employee of Steel of West Virginia and an Independent Contractor Painter. He was a Sunday School Teacher at the original Barboursville Church of God for many years of the elementary and middle school boys. He loved taking them camping and hiking while teaching them about Jesus. He also led the congregation in singing hymns and also sang specials in church. The last twenty years of his life he attended church with his family at Christ Temple Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Shirley Jean Roy Armstrong and one son, David Lee Armstrong, Jr. and by six brothers and six sisters. He is survived by his four children, Michael Allen Armstrong of Huntington, WV, Jeffrey Scott (Faye) Armstrong of Chesapeake, OH, Angela Denise (Mark) Caserta of Huntington, WV and Kevin Shawn (Brenda) Armstrong of Huntington, WV; daughter-in-law, Vendetta Armstrong of Cedar Bluff Alabama; one sister, Orpha Nicely of Auburn, Washington; grandchildren, Amanda Armstrong, Holly Boyes, Craig Armstrong, Amber Armstrong, Adam Armstrong (Hannah), Aaron Caserta (Anneliese), James Caserta, Seth Caserta, Jordan Armstrong and Jacob Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Conner Barnes, Abilene Chapman, Rowen Armstrong, Austin Adkins, Kaiden Adkins, Keegan Lambert, Mason Armstrong, Nolan Armstrong, Elias Caserta, Claire Caserta and Joel Caserta. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Christ Temple Church 2400 Johnstown Rd. Huntington, WV with Pastor Chuck Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Bar4boursville, WV. The family will receive friends two hours prior to services on Friday at the church.
